We chose Atul Tandon for our "Best Public Speakers" list because of his excellent leadership presence. He grabs our attention with his positive energy and warm social gracefulness. Atul's expertise is far-reaching when it comes to effective communication in leadership. He is a well-seasoned leader in the areas of consumer banking, e-commerce, community organizations, several civil society organizations, and international humanitarian relief and development organizations. He is the CEO of Opportunity International.

The best public speakers event we reviewed was the 2021 Ideagen Global Leadership Summit. Atul leads a panel of distinguished guests to discuss the power of partnership during a pandemic. This was a Livestream broadcast from March 25, 2021.
Atul's greatest leadership communication skills:
Creativity: Atul refers to an African proverb, "When you want to go fast, go alone. When you want to go far, go together/with friends." This delivers an interesting world outlook on how to approach a challenge.
Strong Headline: His headline, "A whole system problem needs a whole system solution" is a great attention-getting start.
Energy: Atul does a great job getting us excited about the speakers he has lined up to join him - talk about effective communication in leadership! He also maintains well-paced speed and intensity throughout this Livestream. He is standing at his desk, and this creates a more dynamic overall presence.
Virtual Format: Excellent camera and virtual setting. This creates a feeling of eye contact and connection between Atul and his audience. The lighting is perfect!
Leadership Presence: His choice of dress is natural and elevated as we would expect from a CEO; especially someone focused on communication for leadership success.
Personality: Natural and appropriate use of humor at 31:30 when Atul jokes with guest, Katey Assem, about knowing only 6 languages compared to Katey's 17. Humor can be a successful way to let your personality shine and connect with your audience.
What Atul could do to improve his leadership communication skills:
Atul should avoid using the filler phrase, "a little bit." When he uses this phrase it diminishes the expectation of the topic.
We would suggest Atul place his Opportunity Update at 3:41 before introducing his guest speakers instead of afterwards. The update delayed our hearing from the speakers.
